Qantas Qantas Qantas

Here are my thoughts on this whole Qantas saga.

There are so many underlying issues with this and it is hard to really understand what is going on. So I will try for those of you who don’t understand.
For some time now, with little to no notice some of the Qantas ground staff have been taking industrial action and stopping work for a period of time. Which has seen flights delayed and mostly cancelled leaving the nation scratching their heads as to where to from here.

Clearly both sides are not prepared to give any consideration to the other side and the Australian public continue to the ones held up by their ignorance. Today the CEO of Qantas has grounded all Qantas flights.

This is a big move, and one that although people claiming to be shocked by doesn’t surprise me. There were calls in the media for the government to intervene, which they chose not to do, until of course the announcement from Joyce forced them to do something.

For me it comes back to the employees who are striking! You are not punishing Joyce nor Qantas. Joyce just got a 2M pay rise! They are punishing the AUSTRALIAN PUBLIC! I am firm believer of people fighting for their rights though I don’t ever believe strike is the action to achieve what you want. I also do to an extent believe if you aren’t happy working where you are leave to somewhere that you will be happy at.

I am very happy Joyce and Qantas have made the decision they have, as it will now have to be resolved and then the Australian public won’t be punished for too much longer.

With the Queen’s visit we have just had some fantastic media attention and publicity of why Australia is so great. It is such a shame to now have this take the attention over the Queen’s visit.

I don’t believe something like this would have happened should a Liberal government be in power. Though that is an entirely another matter which I could blog about for ages!

My thoughts are my own, and I encourage your comments and discussion.

Always the voice,
JT
